Mother's Day Baskets ~ a GREAT cause

Here is some information from Mayan Families, an organization who is doing great things for the people of Guatemala. Just think....$30 can give all this to a family who probably hasn't seen that much food in months. I spent $20 at McDonalds last night because I was too lazy to cook....pathetic.

Please pass this along to your friends. Their website is

Hola friends of Mayan Families,

A mother's work is never done. This couldn't be truer for many of the indigenous women here in Guatemala who wash clothes by hand, grind corn, collect and chop firewood, carry water long distances often while carrying a baby on their back. In addition to these difficulties the cost of the price of living has increased in Guatemala over the recent months which has radically impacted the community, making daily life even harder for already struggling families. All mothers want the same thing for their children; to be healthy, well fed and happy. Sadly many mothers in Guatemala are unable to give this to their children. Please consider giving a Mother's Day Basket that is full of nutritious food. You can give this basket to a family for just $30 US.A

Mayan Families basket will include:
- Roast Chicken,
- Oatmeal,
- Pasta,
- Rice,
- Coffee,
- Black beans,
- Oil,
- Carrots,
- Bananas,
- Pineapple,
- Incaprina (a nutritious, high fibre local beverage),
- and all goods will be packaged in a multipurpose, reusable plastic basket.

We hope that this Mother's Day you can assist us in supporting and honoring a Mother in the Guatemalan Highlands. If you would like to donate this gift in honor of a special mother - we will be happy to announce this on our website.

We thank you for your continued support. To pay for your Mother's Day Basket please go to the contribute button, and send S30 to the Mayan Families Food and Milk Program.

Talk about putting things into perspective. I also spent about $15.00 at McDonald's yesterday and then $25.00 getting a pedicure. I think I can come up with $30.00 for this!!!
